Chad Kroeger once paid a roadie to stick his penis in a metal fan.

The Nickelback frontman - who is engaged to pop singer Avril Lavigne - raised the wager with one of his road crew after finding a particularly nasty looking steel bladed air cooler on tour in Germany.

He told Men's Health magazine: 'We were in Germany years ago and we were just bored. In a back room in the venue where we were playing, there was an old fan with a metal blade.

'I don't remember the last time I saw a fan with a metal blade. And we paid the drum tech ... I think we got the pot up to about 600 deutschmarks. At this time Germany hadn't converted to the Euro yet.'

When asked what the roadie exactly did for the money, Chad, 37, replied: 'Stick his johnson in the fan.

'I can still hear the 'bleh-bleh-blehhhhhhh' of the blade slowly sputtering to a stop, and this blood-curdling scream. It was fantastic.

'Somebody has video footage of this somewhere that needs to be resurrected and shown at the guy's next birthday party.'

'Rockstar' singer Chad once memorably described himself as a 'walking penis' because of his high sex drive, and although he's settling down, he says his libido hasn't changed he's just committed to one woman.

He said: 'I don't think my libido has changed. I just think that my rolodex has been confiscated. And I'm OK with that.'
