Paris Hilton has called her boyfriend 'the best', despite him being arrested on Monday (01.10.12).

The heiress' boyfriend River Viiperi was taken into police custody on a charge of misdemeanour battery after he allegedly punched a man in the face, but Paris is standing by her man.

When out at The Grove in Los Angeles last night (02.10.12) Paris, 31, and River, 21, seemed content and close, holding hands as they strolled towards the restaurant.

When a photographer said to Paris that she has a 'good guy' the blonde replied: 'He's the best.'

According to gossip website TMZ.com, the man who filed the police report stated that Paris was 'making out' with his girlfriend on the dancefloor of the XS Nightclub inside the Encore Hotel, in Las Vegas, during the early hours of Monday morning.

A jealous River is said to have came over and punched the onlooker so hard that he needed medical attention.

Paris, 31, is insistent that she wasn't kissing another girl that evening, and that the other couple were harassing her.

A source told RadarOnline.com: 'According to Paris, another couple had been harassing them at XS, and the guy was getting to close to the hotel heiress, and River just shoved him away from his girlfriend.

'River didn't hit the dude, he was just protecting Paris and trying to give them a little space.'
