Jesse Tyler Ferguson: 'Wedding planning starts soon'

Jesse Tyler Ferguson will start planning his wedding 'soon'.

The 'Modern Family' actor - who proposed to his boyfriend Justin Mikita in July but only announced it this month - admits they have simply been enjoying their engagement but will get down to the important nuptial preparation in the near future.

He told People.com: 'It's very exciting. We're very excited about it. We've been engaged since July, so we're just kind of enjoying that. We're going to start planning soon.'

Jesse, who lost the race to win the Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series to 'Modern Family' co-star Eric Stonestreet on Sunday (23.09.12), revealed he had become engaged to Justin - a lawyer - in a video.

In a post on the website for the newly created foundation Tie the Knot, which supports the fight for marriage equality, Jesse said: 'It's true, I popped the big Q.'

To which Justin replies: 'I said yes!'

Jesse, 36, and 27-year-old Mikita - who have been dating for nearly two years - hope their union will eventually be considered official everywhere in the United States, where current marriage status between couples of the same sex is different from state to state.
