Cheryl Cole is 'desperate for children.'

The 'Under the Sun' singer is said to be worried her biological clock is ticking down and she is running out of time to start a family - something she already thought she would have done by now.

Cheryl had been hoping to have kids with her husband Ashley Cole but their relationship broke down in 2010 after he was revealed to be a serial cheater.

Referring to the revelations in her forthcoming autobiography, a source told heat magazine: 'Cheryl worries she's put her career before everything else, including settling down. She is desperate for children and reveals in the book that not only did she think she'd be a mum by now, but that she would have had a family with Ashley if things hadn't gone so wrong. She also reveals that she worries she won't have children.'

The 29-year-old pop star is now dating dancer Tre Holloway and has recovered from the heartbreak Ashley caused her, but she writes in the tome about how she hit rock bottom after her marriage ended.

The source added: 'Cheryl was an emotional wreck around that time. Depression is something she has battled with and this was her lowest point. She wondered if she needed help.'

Cheryl has previously said herself: 'I just found myself looking at my team, thinking, 'Please somebody help me.' Although I didn't do it, it was suggested that I seek therapy.'
