Russell Brand
Russell Brand will be 'honoured' to do community service.
The British funnyman - who last week was ordered to undertake 20 hours of community service and pay $500 in court fees for throwing a photographer's iPhone through a window in March - thinks his sentence is not a punishment as it gives him a chance to help people in need.
He said: 'I don't know what their format of community service is, but community service, that doesn't seem like a punishment. That seems like a duty.
'We are our community. Service is an honour. I'll be happy to do it.'
However, the 'Arthur' star - whose divorce from Katy Perry was finalised earlier this month - admitted he doesn't yet know what his community service will involve.
He said: 'What will I be doing? I don't know. Tidying up or something probably.'
Russell previously joked that his actions with the phone were in tribute to late Apple founder CEO Steve Jobs.
Speaking shortly after the incident, he said: 'Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iPhone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.'
