David Beckham made a spectacular appearance at the Opening Ceremony of the London Olympic Games tonight (27.07.12).
The footballer - who was famously snubbed from Team GB for the Games - had promised he would still play a part and didn't disappoint with his stunt.
Fireworks appeared on Tower Bridge before a powerboat appeared, which seemed to be driven by David as it passed along the River Thames to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, East London.
On the boat with him were Jade Bailey, Arsenal and England Under 17 ladies footballer player and the famous Olympic torch.
David has previously spoken of his disappointment at missing out but said he was determined to enjoy the Games as a fan.
He said:'I am going to be just proud just to be there as a fan more than anything.
'In a part of London where I grew up playing soccer over the fields that have been changed now. As a fan and an Englishman I am going to be very proud.'
Meanwhile Dizzee Rascal performed his song 'Bonkers', tying in with a clip from creative director Danny Boyle's Oscar winning movie 'Slumdog Millionaire' while Emeli Sande gave a stunning performance of 'Abide With Me'.
