Kate Beckinsale tries not to embarrass daughter

Kate Beckinsale makes a conscious effort not to embarrass her teenage daughter.

The 'Total Recall' actress, who is mother to a 13-year-old named Lily, said that she wants to set a good example and chooses projects based on how they will affect the young girl.

She said: 'Well, I haven't done an awful lot of nude scenes. And I've been somebody who has had a child for a very long time.'

She added to Allure magazine: 'Most of my peers don't have a 13-year-old. And it's embarrassing. My daughter said to me, 'You know, I'd really love it if you never said the word 'vagina' in an interview again'. Whoops. I've just done it.'

Kate previously said that her daughter thinks she is 'not cool' and finds her to be embarrassing to be around.

She said: 'She's become a teenager so all of a sudden I became a whole lot more embarrassing than I'd ever been in the past.

'I do have a tendency to be that sort of awful mother who thinks she's really hip so right now I have to give her space and realise that as far as she's concerned, I am really not cool.'
