Queen Latifah is 'working on' adopting a child.

The 42-year-old singer-and-actress looks to be edging nearer to achieving her dream of having a child one day, and the brunette star insists she is 'totally serious' about taking on kids through such a process.

Speaking on 'The View' about whether she would like to adopt a child, she said: 'I'm actually kind of working on that. I just always wanted to bring a child home.

'I'm totally serious, so if you got a kid that you don't ... just give me a year - let me set up camp and send me the kid. But no, no [I'm] totally [serious about adopting].'

Last year, the 'Ice Age: Continental Drift' star outlined her intentions to have a child one day and while she is perfectly happy to have a kid naturally, she has dreamed of adopting since she was a teenager.

She explained: 'I'm definitely going to adopt - or have - a child. I've wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18 years old.'
