The cast of the film The Hot Flashes - Brooke Shields, Wanda Sykes, Virginia Madsen, Camryn Manheim and Mark Povinelli - joined the American Cancer Society for a “Blow Out Cancer” bash to celebrate their movement to create a world with More Birthdays for Everyone.
The four women were excited to reunite again after becoming such great friends on set; they caught up like old friends who hadn't seen each other in ages while getting ready for the PSA Shoot.
The Hot Flashes plot centers around women’s empowerment and originates from five friends trying to raise money for breast cancer early detection programs by holding a charity basketball game.
The film has partnered with the American Cancer Society to further this message and help the fight against breast cancer. The partnership kicked off Tuesday, June 19 with a PSA shoot raising awareness for the importance of mammograms, followed by a celebration dinner to honor cancer survivors at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills.
Virginia Madsen wore a pink outfit and had her nails painted pink specially for the occasion (the film and PSA Shoot were promoting the importance of early detection for breast cancer).
Wanda Sykes refusing to leave the bar at the start of the dinner portion of the evening so she could watch the end of the basketball game (NBA Finals). Wanda bragged that she was the better baller of the bunch - "too short for Kobe," she compared her style to Miami Heat's Dwayne Wade.
Brooke Shields was talking about how excited she was to be "fighting demons all summer" (she is starring in the stage play of "The Exorcist" at Geffen Playhouse in LA this summer). Shields worried she was "too tall" for everyone so she took her shoes off on the carpet while posing for photos with the rest of the cast and during interviews.
