Delta Goodrem opens up about Brian split

Delta Goodrem said she 'didn't know how to get out' of her relationship with Brian McFadden.

The singer has spoken for the first time about calling off their engagement last year after six and a half years together, saying she had no idea how to end things with the Irish star.

She told Vogue Australia: 'There is so much I'd like to say. I was really unhappy and I didn't know how to get out. I learnt. I got there in the end.''

Delta - who appears on the Australian version of reality show 'The Voice' alongside Seal, Joel Madden and Keith Urban - and Brian made the decision to part in April 2011, and issued a joint statement.

It said: 'This decision has been made with a lot of soul searching from both parties with the realisation that they have grown apart.'

Brian later tweeted: 'I love Delta and always will. She is one of God's living angels. I thank her for giving me the best years of my life. Please give us time x (sic).'

Delta has since had another high profile romance with US singer Nick Jonas, and although it didn't last long, with them splitting in February, she is still find of him.

She added: 'I only have good things to say about Nick.'

Nick and Delta parted but remained friends, blaming their hectic work schedules, which saw her preparing for 'The Voice' in Australia, while he appeared on stage in a NewYork production of 'How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying' in the US.
