Laura Wright and orchestra on the Jubilee line
Laura Wright performed a special concert on the Jubilee tube line to celebrate Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee yesterday (21.05.12).
The soprano - who was chosen to record the Diamond Jubilee single 'Stronger As One' - took to London's underground transport system with an orchestra to perform the single and songs from her debut album 'Glorious', to be released on May 28.
Laura, 21, will sing for Queen Elizabeth more than any other artist this year as the monarch celebrates 60 years on the throne and has previously revealed she loves performing for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, because his cheeky sense of humour puts her at ease.
Laura - who first met the couple at Marlborough House in London in March after performing the Diamond Jubilee song at Westminster Abbey - said: 'I met with Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh at Marlborough House and it was wonderful, he's so funny, he's just so cheeky. It's nice though because in a situation like that he really breaks the ice. He is lots of fun. They're such a sweet couple. She's so beautiful, she's really gentle.
'Before I sang the song in Westminster Abbey it was quite nerve wracking. The queen walked past and I stood up and just remember thinking don't do anything and then I sang and the experience was amazing.'
Laura will release her new album, 'Glorious' on May 28 through Decca Records.
