Peter Andre 'smitten' with new dog

Peter Andre has bought a new dog.

The 'Behind Closed Doors' hitmaker - who has two children, Junior, six, and four-year-old Princess Tiaamii, with ex-wife Katie Price, as well as helping raise her nine-year-old son Harvey from a previous relationship - is 'completely smitten' with his new pug, Porridge, so much so he has been taking her 'everywhere' with him.

Writing in his column for new! magazine, he explained: 'When I was on Keith Lemon's 'Lemonaid', he had some puppies on the show that people could win as part of a competition. As soon as I laid my eyes on one of them, I fell totally in love and, within a week, I'd bought her for the kids. She's called Porridge and she's an absolute beauty.

'We all love her so much, although Charlie Pug has been getting a little bit jealous, bless him. We're making sure we give him lots of attention too, but he gets sick in the car whereas Porridge, who's also a pug, loves it, so I tend to take her everywhere with me every day. I'm just completely smitten.'

The 39-year-old reality TV star initially had difficulty thinking of a name for his new pooch, but Junior inadvertently came up with a moniker for the four-legged friend one day when the dog responded to the six year old's expression of love for oat breakfast cereal porridge.

He added: 'When she first arrived, we couldn't decide on a name for her. I wanted to call her Bista (Princess's nickname), Junior wanted to call her Babygirl and Princess wanted to call her Minnie.

'We tried out all those names but Junior was eating a bowl of porridge for breakfast one morning and said, 'I love porridge,' and she turned round. We kept trying the other names out on her, but Porridge was the only one she responded to, so that was it! I think it's really cute.'
