Pregnant Jessica Simpson ditches the heels

Pregnant Jessica Simpson has given up heels.

With just one month to go until the birth of her daughter, the 31-year-old 'Fashion Star' mentor has finally admitted defeat and abandoned her beloved stilettos.

The singer-turned-designer was reportedly heard telling a fellow shopper in Santa Monica store Fred Segal's: 'Only one month to go! I can't wear heels anymore. I tried but it was too hard. Wearing heels is like a religion to me, so it's tough!'

The baby will be the first for NFL star Eric Johnson and Jessica - who previously vowed to keep her heels on throughout the birth.

She joked to US Weekly: 'I'm probably going to deliver my baby in [four-inch YSL heels] ... I went to the doctor yesterday and he said, 'You're going to need to get out of those heels!''

Having gained 40lbs whilst pregnant, Jessica is rumoured to have signed a £2.5million deal with Weight Watchers to 'lose a significant amount of weight' once the baby arrives.

A source told the magazine she had been planning to become a spokesperson for the company, 'But then she got pregnant, so this was the perfect compromise.'
