Channing Tatum had to show butt in The Vow

Channing Tatum says it was 'necessary' to show his butt in new movie 'The Vow'.

The hunky actor bares his rear in the film - which co-stars Rachel McAdams - and he insists he had no qualms about doing it because he felt it was relevant to the story.

He said: 'That wasn't gratuitous. That was necessary.'

Channing's wife, Jenna Dewan, was also impressed with the scene, saying: 'I was like, 'There's his butt on the screen.' But it's completely screen-worthy ... It's definitely going to be something people rewind and play.'

However, Channing wasn't seen keen on appearing topless in the movie as he didn't really think it called for it.

Talking about a scene where he took the rubbish out bare-chested, Channing told E! News: 'It was very gratuitous. It was like, 'Do I really need to have my shirt off to take out the garbage while eating a piece of pizza and picking up a cat?' Shirtless? Was that really necessary?'

But Channing knows it won't be the last time his buff body is seen on the big screen.

He said: 'I'm sure. it won't be the last time I take my clothes off.'
