US singer Steven Tyler performs the national anthem before the start of the AFC Championship game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, USA, 22 January 2012. Aerosmith leadman Steven Tyler sang the national Anthem and the media critics went on the attack.
The AP said, “Let’s just say the rendition probably wouldn’t get him to Hollywood.”
Tyler joins Roseanne Barr and Christina Aguilera in the Anthem walk of shame for atrocious renditions of a song that has most people flubbing the lines.
Even former American Idol contestant Scott McCreary botched the lyrics. The Voice judge Christina Aguilera also forgot lyrics, later explaining that she got lost in the moment.
Next up to tackle the notoriously difficult song is former American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson on Super Bowl XLVI on Feb. 5.
