David Furnish 'tempest in a teapot' with Madonna

Elton John’s husband David Furnish posted an explanation on his Facebook for his verbal attack on Madonna after she won over Elton John for ‘best song’ at the Golden Globe Awards.

Furnish wrote on his Facebook “Wow! What a tempest in a teapot. My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion.”

“My passion for our film "Gnomeo & Juliet" and belief in Elton's song really got my emotional juices going,” Furnish explained.

Furnish wanted to make sure there were no hard feelings, finishing his post with “But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week's premiere of the film "W.E.".

53-year-old Madonna won the award for the song Masterpiece. She not only wrote the song for W.E., but also directed the film. 

The Vogue singer beat out Elton John’s Hello Hello from Gnomeo and Juliet and Mary J. Blige’s Living Proof from The Help.

Us Weekly reported that Madonna, speaking backstage at the Globes, said about 64-year-old John “I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He’s been known to get mad at me so I don’t know. He’s brilliant and I adore him so he’ll win another award. I don’t feel bad.

But Furnish didn’t believe Madonna deserved to win the award launching into a tirade over Facebook.

He wrote “Madonna. Best song???? F__off!!!”

“Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing it it’s narcissism,” he continued.

“And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is,” he concluded.
