A war of words have erupted between wealthy pop stars Elton John, his husband David Furnish and Madonna over a Golden Globes award.
Madonna's award speech was deemed an "embarrassing" event by John's husband Furnish.
Us Magazine reports that John lost out to Madonna at Sunday's Golden Globe Awards in Beverly Hills over the category of Best Original Song (Motion Picture) for "Masterpiece," which she wrote for W.E., which she also directed.
Madonna beat out John's "Hello Hello" from Gnomeo & Juliet, and Mary J. Blige's "Living Proof" from The Help.
After the 53-year-old pop singer's name was called, Furnish wrote on his Facebook page: "Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!"
"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism," he wrote. "And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is."
Madonna took the high road: "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years," she quipped. "He's been known to get mad at me so I don't know. He's brilliant and I adore him so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad!"
