Katy Perry celebrates New Year at Soho House

Katy Perry didn’t let her impending divorce get her down on New Year’s Eve as she partied with friends at Soho House in West Hollywood.

The New York Post reported that the Fireworks singer had a great time and spent the night ‘dancing and laughing with friends.’

“One wouldn’t have ever even known that her husband had just filed for divorce,” a source told the newspaper. “At one point, she was talking to a guy with long hair down to his shoulders in the hallway. They were talking for a while. She was smiling and leaning up against wall.”

“After midnight Katy and a male friend got on the dance floor, twirling each other around and dancing holding hands. She looked like she was having a great time.”

Perry’s estranged husband, British comedian Russell Brand spent his New Year at the Savoy Hotel alone, according to the Mirror.

A guest told the newspaper “He wasn’t up for celebrating and just ordered food to his room. The next morning he was in the gym from 11am and spent two hours there.”

Brand filed for divorce after 14 months of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.

It has been reported that the couple split up after rows about starting a family. 36-year-old Brand was ready to settle down and have children but 27-year-old Perry was not prepared to do so at the height of her career.

Brand released a statement regarding the divorce saying “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I'll always adore her and I know we'll remain friends.”
