Nick Cannon spearheads foodbank drive in Los Angeles

New dad Nick Cannon volunteered at an LA Food Bank this weekend to help raise awareness on behalf of Feeding America, DoSomething.org and their newest partnership Tackle Hunger.

Did you know that there are 49 million Americans at risk of hunger?

Nick used food banks while growing up when his family hit a rough patch. Cannon and his entourage were in high spirits, they worked assembly line style to efficiently pack boxes of food.

Cannon acted as a motivator, praising his friends for their hard work and cheering them on with each box filled. During their visit, Cannon and his group packed over 10,000 pounds of food – equivalent to 7,500 meals for local families.

Cannon is on the Entertainment Council of Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity. Cannon was joined by artists from his record label NCredible Entertainment, and the group packed food boxes for distribution to over 640 charitable agencies in Los Angeles County.

Nearly 49 million Americans are facing hunger, including 1.7 million people in Los Angeles County. As a child, Cannon’s family periodically turned to food pantries for assistance. Cannon is excited to be giving back this holiday season, and and encouraged others to do so as well through campaigns like “Tackle Hunger,” a national youth led food drive held annually during the holiday season in partnership withDoSomething.org, one of the largest U.S. organizations that helps teen act on causes they care about.
