Alec Baldwin’s dispute with American Airlines continued when he appeared on Saturday Night Live imitating an American Airline’s pilot and apologised to himself.
The 30 Rock star said he was removed from an AA flight when he refused to turn off his electronic device. He claimed he was playing ‘Words with Friends’ when a flight attendant ‘reamed him out’ for playing the game while sitting at the gate.
American Airlines responded on their Facebook page to give their version of events. They claimed that after Baldwin had refused to turn off his electronic device, he slammed the lavatory door so hard the cockpit crew heard it. They said in their statement that he called the cabin crew inappropriate names and used offensive language. The airline said it was this chain of events that led to him being asked to leave the flight.
The 53-year-old actor then posted an apology on the Huffington Post to the passengers on the flight, but not the airline itself. He stated that he felt ‘singled out’ by the airline staff and they wanted to ‘make an example of him.’
In Baldwin’s appearance on ‘SNL,’ he says he has come to issue an apology on behalf of American Airlines to Mr. Alec Baldwin.
Dressed up in a pilot’s outfit he says “Mr Baldwin is an American treasure. I am ashamed at the way he was treated. What harm would it do to let him keep playing him game? Not any game mind you, but a word game for smart people.”
