Los Angeles - The estranged 89-year-old father of actress Jodie Foster has been convicted of grand theft and could be sentenced to 25 years behind bars, People.com reported Thursday.
Lucius Foster was convicted of 21 misdemeanor counts of grand theft for collecting down payments of 5,000 dollars from poor and elderly people as deposits for the construction of modular homes built out of Chinese shipping containers.
'Not one of these homes has ever been built in the city of Los Angeles,' Deputy City Attorney Don Cocek told the jury. 'It's all a big scam.'
Oscar-winning actress Foster has never been close to her father. She was born just after her parents were divorced and was raised solely by her mother.
