Kirk Douglas Thanksgiving Mission work aided by Love Hewitt, Kardashian, Saldana, Underwood

Jennifer Love Hewitt, Blair Underwood, Kim Kardashian and Zoe Saldana volunteered to serve Thanksgiving meals to the homeless on behalf of the Los Angeles Mission Wednesday.

Us Weekly reports that Kardashian "was very cordial and friendly" while volunteering at Wednesday's event. Though it was her first visit to the Los Angeles Mission, she "worked hard in both the food preparation area and in serving the food to the guests," her publicist added.

Kirk Douglas and his wife Anne hosted the event for the seventh year in a row, employing volunteers such as actors Jennifer Love Hewitt and Blair Underwood. Saldana is a veteran of working with the Los Angeles Mission and she urged her Twitter followers than they "could feed more if you log on to http://www.feedLANow.org and donate."

Kardashian tweeted, "Their goal is to feed 120,000 people by the end of the year!" she shared. "We fed so many today."

"Every one of us can do something small that will make a huge difference to someone else," she added.

For 75 years, the Los Angeles Mission has served the people of Skid Row, providing shelter, food, clothing and professional medical and dental services.  It also offers long-term residential rehabilitation programs including education, job training/placement, transitional housing and counseling.
