Prosecutors are seeking the maximum punishment of four years for Doctor Conrad Murray in the case of involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson.
The D.A. is also filing a claim of over $100 million for Jackson’s three children. This is to compensate for their loss of earnings, wages and funeral expenses.
Murray’s lawyers are asking that he only receive probation, the minimum punishment for the case.
Jackson died in his home on the 25th June 2009 due to an overdose of Propofol. The drug is a strong anaesthetic which was prescribed by Murray to help the singer sleep.
Jackson was due to start his comeback concerts labelled ‘This Is It’ only a month after his death. His first ten concerts, taking place in London, had sold out and would have made him over $50 million. His tour would also have taken him to Paris, New York City and Mumbai.
Murray, 58, is currently in jail awaiting sentencing on Tuesday 29th November.
