Los Angeles - Seven men and five women deliberated about hours to reach their verdict in the death of popstar Michael Jackson.
After Jackson's physician, Dr Conrad Murray, was convicted Monday of involuntary manslaughter, his bail was revoked and he was jailed. He faces four years in prison at sentencing on November 29.
The jury began deliberating on Friday, following closing arguments, and finished on Monday after being given the weekend off.
The jury was chosen in mid-September from a pool of 100 people, who had to answer a catalogue of 30 questions to determine their suitability for jury duty. Both prosecutors and defence attorneys were allocated a number of challenges in the selection process.
The questions asked of jurors covered a number of issues ranging from attitudes toward pop music and medications to Jackson's 2009 death.
The jury ranged in age from 32 to 57 years old. They included a postman, a school bus driver, a book salesperson, an office employee and a marketing manager. Some of them said they had been fans of Jackson's music at one time or another.
As is customary, the judge instructed the jury to refrain from reading or watching media reports, including social media reports, about the court case. He instructed them to only discuss the case with each other, not with others, but waived those orders after Monday's conclusion of the trial.
