She's funny, real, gorgeous and can sing like no one else. British beauty Adele is coveted as a chat show guest by Rosie O'Donnell for OWN, and is always a delight on the Graham Norton Show (video clip below).
Adele unfortunately has had to cancel all her US shows due to a vocal hemorrhage. Doctors told her that she could lose her voice permanently if she didn’t take the time to rest her throat.
In a post on her website on Tuesday Adele wrote:
“Guys, im heartbroken and worried to tell you that yet again im experiencing problems with my voice… Singing is literally my life, it’s my hobby, my love, my freedom and now my job. I have absolutely no choice but to recuperate properly and fully, or I risk damaging my voice forever. I have great confidence in believing you know how much this upsets me, how seriously I take it and how truly devastated and annoyed I am by this. Wanting to do something so bad and not being able to is the most frustrating thing as I’m sure you know!
My voice is weak and I need to build it back up. I’m gonna be starting up vocal rehab as soon as (possible), and start building my overall stamina in my voice, body and mind. I will be back and I’m gonna smash the ball out the park once I’m touring again. I apologize from the bottom of my heart, sincerely I do.”
Despite the hiccup in her tour plans, Adele leads American Music Award nominees with four nominations.
The news was given by Rapper Pitbull and performer Nicky Minaj for the 2011 American Music Awards, Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, in Los Angeles. The 39th annual American Music Awards will be held Nov. 20 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Perry and Pitbull are the first confirmed performers. The show will air live on ABC.
Described by some as the Streisand for this generation, Adele's album "21" is one of the best-selling and critically praised new releases by any artist in recent years.
Adele, whose hits include "Rolling in the Deep" and "Someone Like You," was nominated for artist of the year, favorite female artist, favorite adult contemporary artist and favorite album for "21."
Her second album is the year's best-selling album with more than 3.7 million copies sold in the United States alone.
