At the site of where many believe was the first successful fight back in the war on terror, the sacred ground of Shanksville, Penn. is where many lives were lost on September 11, in a calculated attack meant for Washington DC.
The hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 never got to our nation's Capitol. Instead, the people on the plane learned of their fate and took action to stop the Islamic terrorists in their act of war.
It cost everyone their lives.
Now on the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks, Sarah McLachlan sang a moving tribute to those who were killed in their act of heroism when hijacked United Airlines Flight 93 crashed to the ground.
Playing the piano, the Grammy winner sang "I Will Remember You" at the Flight 93 National Memorial dedication at the crash site.
This somber event drew over 4,000 people, including former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, who were on hand with vice president Joe Biden for the dedication of the Memorial Plaza and Field of Honor, which surrounds the area where the flight went down in a rural field.
The hijackers were thwarted by the heroic passengers and crew of Flight 93.
During the ceremony, the names of the 40 victims of the crash were read aloud, as bells tolled in their honor.
