In a reverse Romeo and Juliet story, the star-crossed lovers that were Oksana Grigorieva and Mel Gibson has cost a fortune in lawyers' fees and pay outs.
Gibson was secretly recorded by Oksana, who caught him lathering foul language and horrible threats to her over their love child, after a short-lived relationship that saw the dissolution of his longstanding marriage to his wife Robyn.
Robyn was married to Mel for 28 years, and is the mother of seven of his eight children.
Robyn filed for divorce from Mel in April 2009, citing irreconcilable differences with the Oscar winning director/actor, after he had already started seeing Oksana.
Now that fateful affair has cost dearly, not only in a destroyed family left behind him, but financially too. Gibson will pay Oksana $750,000 under a settlement disclosed Wednesday that allows her and the child to remain in their Sherman Oaks mansion.
The LA Times reported that Grigorieva will share custody with Gibson and be paid in three installments, the final one coming in January 2016 under a deal that will allow her to stay in the home with Lucia, their daughter.
When Lucia reaches 18 years old, the home must be sold and the proceeds placed in a trust for her, said L.A. County Superior Court Judge Peter D. Lichtman.
