Iconic Welsh singer Tom Jones was admitted to a Monaco hospital Sunday, saying “severe dehydration” forced him to cancel a concert in the principality.
The singer denied British press reports that he had suffered a heart scare that forced him to cancel his Monaco concert Saturday night.
CNN reported that Jones canceled a concert in Monte Carlo, saying doctors diagnosed him with severe dehydration and ordered him not to take the stage. The Saturday concert was to have been Jones' final show of his “Praise & Blame” tour.
The 71-year-old Welshman's continuous touring and work schedule through the hot summer months is to blame for the dehydration.
Jones came on the scene hard and fast back in 1964 with the international hit song “It’s Not Unusual” and "Delilah," which caused his female fans to swoon and even throw undergarments on stage when he performed.
Jones is a regular in Las Vegas’ hotels and casinos.
According to his website, Jones plans a short tour of central and eastern Europe in November.
