Ryan O'Neal's family under tragic cloud: Redmond arrested, Griffin in smash up

There seems to never be any good news about the family of Ryan O'Neal.

Addictions, abuse, assault and allegations galore for decades, as the O'Neal family never quite gets out of the tragedy column. Yesterday was no exception.

O'Neal son Redmond O'Neal was arrested for heroin possession, and Griffin O'Neal was involved in a head-on car crash that sent him to the hospital, according to TMZ.

Griffin, 46, was behind the wheel of his car when he allegedly veered into oncoming traffic and struck another car around 1 p.m., according to San Diego Police Sgt. David Jennings

Griffin and an unidentified second person were taken to Palomar Medical Center. Griffin was listed as stable before being released, said hospital spokeswoman Bobette Brown.  The condition of the other driver is not known.

TMZ previously has reported that Redmond, 26, was arrested for drug possession in Santa Monica after he ran a red light and cops found heroin and marijuana in the car.
