Alec Baldwin flirts with real political office, NYC mayoral run?

For years, Alec Baldwin, film actor and smallscreen star of "30 Rock" was booked as a commentator on all things political, even rumored to become a replacement for the one-time MSNBC "Countdown" host Keith Olbermann.

Baldwin has long hinted on many talk shows that one day he may enter the political arena.

The Center for Responsive Politics analysis of federal campaign finance data reported Baldwin has given generously nearly $152,000 to federal-level political candidates or committees, most all that money going to Democratic interests.

Baldwin has donated $500 or more to 30 different federal-level candidates and has given the most to Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)

He's also given $30,500 to the Democratic Party of New York, $22,500 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and $20,100 to the Democratic National Committee, according to data compiled by the Center.

Now there is rumor he will run for New York City Mayor.

Alec’s spokesperson tells the Wall Street Journal, “I wouldn’t rule it out.”

And on Alec's Twitter account?  “It’s a long way till November of 2013.”

As for political sex scandals, Alec blames steroids and Human Growth Hormone that many men in Hollywood and Washington are rumored to take to preserve muscle mass.  Baldwin also tweeted about Weiner, Mel Gibson, and Arnold Schwarzenegger:
