Kid Rock is to be honored by Detroit for his positive deeds for the city.
The award has caused a division within the ranks of the Detroit NAACP supporters, some of whom plan to boycott the Detroit fundraiser.
Kid Rock will be feted by the Detroit NAACP branch with their Great Expectations Award, to be given at their annual dinner on May 1 at Cobo Center.
The Detroit News reports not everyone in the Motor City is pleased about honoring Kid Rock.

Adolph Mongo, head of Detroiters for Progress, is offended by Rock's use of the Confederate flag during his performances.
"It's a slap in the face for anyone who fought for civil rights in this country," Mongo told the Detroit News. "It's a symbol of hatred and bigotry."
However, NAACP officials were quick to jump to Rock's defense in a press statement. Donnell R. White, interim executive director of the Detroit Branch NAACP says, "Kid Rock ... has consistently lifted up the Great Expectations of many persons … concerning the future of the city."
