Demi Lovato regrets love talk
Sep 1, 2010, 5:00 GMT
Demi Lovato wishes she'd kept her romance with Joe Jonas secret.
The starlet - whose brief romance with the Jonas Brothers star ended in May - admits she learned some important lessons from her time with the 21-year-old hunk, but admits their break-up was difficult for her to take in the public eye.
She said: "I learned my lesson. It's not very much fun when you break up in a public relationship. So, maybe next time keep a secret.
"You want to say to your fans: 'Guess what, I'm so in love with somebody.' You want to shout it from the rooftops. That's what you do when you fall in love."
Despite her public heartache, Demi and Joe have seemingly been able to put any hurt feelings behind them.
The pretty singer-and-actress - who is currently on tour with Joe's band The Jonas Brothers - celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday (20.08.10) with a host of pals including her ex-boyfriend and his brothers Nick and Kevin.
Demi has also praised Joe - who is now believed to be dating 'Twilight' actress Ashley Greene - for being a gentleman.
She told People.com: "I know that he has the best intentions. Definitely most guys don't have the same intentions that he does."
The 'Here We Go Again' star claims to be single, but has vowed to remain secretive about her love life until she gets engaged.
She added: "I learned my lesson. You know, I'll go public when I marry someone one day. There are no new romances. I'm perfectly happy with being single. I feel like also if I was going to have a new romance, I'd keep it private."
