Los Angeles - The Beach Boys have sent a letter to chart- topper Katy Perry demanding a co-writing credit for her hit California Girls.
According to the Los Angeles Times Thursday, the Beach Boys' publishing company, Rondor Music International, said that the group's legendary writers Brian Wilson and Mike Love deserve credit for the song because Perry's record borrows the phrase 'I wish they all could be California girls' from the original recording.
'Using the words or melody in a new song taken from an original work is not appropriate under any circumstances, particularly from one as well known and iconic as 'California Girls,'' Rondor said in a statement.
The song spent six weeks atop the US charts, and both Wilson and Love have said they are fans of the recording.
Mansion where Michael Jackson died for sale
Los Angeles (dpa) - The Los Angeles mansion rented by Michael Jackson at the time of his death is up for sale, according to the Los Angeles Times Thursday.
Jackson was paying 100,000 dollars a month to rent the Holmby Hills mansion where he suffered a cardiac arrest last year.
The sellers are asking 28.9 million dollars for the 1,700 square metre, seven-bedroom French Chateau-style house, which also boasts a theater, wine cellar and tasting room, art studio, gym with spa, elevator and 13 bathrooms. There's also a guesthouse, 12 fireplaces and a large swimming pool.
Daughter of Laurence Fishburne to become porn star
Los Angeles (dpa) - Hollywood celebrities are used to their offspring embarrassing them with drug addictions and financial improprieties. But few have to deal with their 18-year-old daughter fulfilling a dream by becoming a porn star.
That's the scenario facing actor Laurence Fishburne after his daughter Montana announced her new career Thursday to People.com.
The daughter of the CSI star is to star in a movie by porn giant Vivid Entertainment that will be released later this month.
'Being in an adult film is not a big deal to me,' she said. 'It's something I always wanted to do. I have always been comfortable in my body and with my sexuality.'
'I am not in porn to get into acting. I am in porn because I wanted to be in porn.'
She said her father was 'devastated' but 'eventually I hope he will be proud of me.'
