May 26, 2010, 3:01 GMT
Washington - Comedy writer and actress Tina Fey is to be honoured with the prestigious Marc Twain prize for American humour, the Kennedy Centre announced Tuesday.
The award comes after the actress, 40, won six Emmys and two Golden Globes for 30 Rock, the series she writes, produces and stars in. She also won two Emmys during nine season of Saturday Night Live, where she returned as a guest star in 2008 with famous parodies of politician Sarah Palin.
Fey is only the third woman to be awarded the Marc Twain prize in its 13-year history, after Lily Tomlin and Whoopi Goldberg. Other winners include actor-comedians Steve Martin and Bill Cosby and playwright Neil Simon.
