Today in New York City, model Naomi Campbell allegedly assaulted a hired chauffeur who was driving her around the city, then fled the car when he hailed a traffic enforcement agent, police sources said.
Campbell allegedly struck the driver in the back of the head so hard that his head hit the steering wheel, leaving him with a bruise under his left eye and swelling, the sources said.
The New York Post claims that the driver got out and found police to tell them that he'd been assualted. When they returned to the car, the 39-year-old Campbell had fled.
The British-born supermodel has a lengthy history of anger issues.
February 2000: Campbell pleaded guilty in Toronto to an assault charge for beating an assistant two years earlier.
March 2006: Campbell charged with throwing a cell phone at her maid Ana Scolavino in Manhattan.
June 2008, Campbell was sentenced to 200 hours of community service after she pleaded guilty to being abusive towards a British Airways crew at London's Heathrow Airport.
Now a representative for Naomi Campbell released the following statement to “Extra” regarding the report today that Naomi Campbell allegedly assaulted a New York City driver and fled the scene:
“There shouldn't be a rush to judgment. Naomi will co-operate voluntarily, and there is more to the story than meets the eye.”
