Kate Winslet's toilet award
Feb 23, 2010, 12:17 GMT
Kate Winslet keeps her Oscar in the bathroom.
The actress - who was given the gong last year for winning the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as a Nazi war criminal in 'The Reader' - admitted she wanted to keep the statue out of sight so people wouldn't keep asking her about it, but in a place where guests could look at it privately.
She told UK TV show 'GMTV': "People can sneakily have a little hold and put it back down again... because basically everybody wants to touch it, everybody wants to hold it and go, 'Oh, my gosh,' and, 'How heavy is it?' So I figured if I put it in there, then people can avoid the whole, 'Where's your Oscar?' thing."
The 34-year-old screen beauty - who has daughter Mia, nine, and son, Joe, six - presented the Best Actor honour at the BAFTA Awards in London on Sunday (21.02.10) and admitted her favourite thing about prestigious ceremonies is getting the chance to dress up.
She said: "It's great to wear lovely dresses and to just experience those moments of dress up, especially as a mum, because you get so few moments to feel good in your own skin and wear a lovely gown."
