Nicolas Cage apology
Feb 20, 2010, 12:21 GMT

US actor Nicolas Cage EPA/WARREN TODA
On February 18 2009 BANG Showbiz published a story falsely quoting Nicolas Cage as saying that he "wanted to crawl up and hide when his financial situation escalated out of control," that he "admits he was in shock about his huge debts and wanted to ignore them" and other related statements.
The quotes make it appear that the story was based on an interview with Mr. Cage.
However, we have learned that there was no interview and that Mr. Cage never made any of those statements. We retract and withdraw the story in its entirety.
We would like to sincerely apologise to Mr. Cage for making it appear as though he made the statements and for any distress caused to him by the publication of the story.
