School actor Leonardo DiCaprio
Feb 18, 2010, 6:03 GMT
Leonardo DiCaprio decided to become an actor during his school's 'Career Day'.
The 'Titanic' star admits he didn't know what he wanted to do with his life until he was told he could make living out of acting.
The 35-year-old star: "I was 12 and people were coming to our school to inform us about different professions. There was a salesman, a biologist... and suddenly someone said, 'Acting is a profession as well.' And I thought 'What? You can earn money with that?' From that moment on it was clear that I wanted to try it."
The 'Shutter Island' actor is grateful to 'Career Day' as it told him what path to take in life but admits it could have turned out so differently if he hadn't been listening.
He told Stern magazine:"It was one of the most daunting experiences of my life, because everything could have come differently if I wouldn't have been concentrating on what was said.
"I think it's scary, this haphazardness of life. I could have been distracted on that day."
