Courtney Love planned house swap

Courtney Love bought her teenage daughter a house so she could live alone.

The Hole singer thought she and Frances Bean - her child with late husband Kurt Cobain - would get along better if they lived separately.

But her plans to surprise the 17 year old were dashed when she lost custody of her to the Nirvana star's mother Wendy O'Connor and sister Kimberly Dawn Cobain in December.

She said: "At Christmas time I bought her a house. And it took everything - I had to go to somebody else and get them to finance the house, because they'd frozen my account. And I was gonna blindfold her, put her in her house and go on the road - goodbye! That's it. So, there's no argument.

"She wasn't very happy living with me, that's OK she's 17. Lenny Kravitz's daughter has her own apartment at sixteen, it's fine. As long as it's around the corner from me and I can have some supervision, it's fine."

Courtney, 45, also blasted the "ridiculous" court ruling that placed Frances in the care of her relatives, insisting she doesn't understand why the order was given.

She added to Clash magazine: "It's bananas. I did nothing. Um, I curse and I swear and I smoke and I take an anti-depressant. That's what it said. It's Los Angeles County Municipal Court. It's why I got us out of there and moved to New York. It's ridiculous."
