Last year Katie Holmes charmed and wowed audiences with her leggy dance routines for "So You Think You Can Dance" that showed off her showmanship skills.
Now word from Sundance film festival is the wife of Tom Cruise is a heavyweight in drama, featured in two Sundance selected films.
The Los Angeles Times reports that Ms. Holmes is cast in the Kevin Kline-Paul Dano film, "The Extra Man" and the dramedy "The Romantics."
"The Romantics" is where she is receiving the most accolades from her peers according to the LAT.
The film "Romantics" is a study of that nebulous elastic area between the carefree twenties and being a grown up for a group of aristocratic friends.
The LAT writes: "All of them gather for a wedding of two of their own -- a monied, uptight woman named Lila (Anna Paquin) who's marrying Tom (Josh Duhamel) having essentially grabbed him from under the nose of Holmes' Laura."
According to the LAT critic who watched Holmes' Laura character, Holmes "is a perfect vehicle for her skills, and actually gives the actress a chance to showcase much of what distinguished her on "Dawson's Creek."
