West End-bound Matthew Broderick

Jan 15, 2010, 6:03 GMT

Matthew Broderick is to appear in a London stage show.

The actor - who is married to 'Sex and the City' star Sarah Jessica Parker - admits he is uncertain what comes next for him professionally, but believes he will be making a move away from the US in the near future.

He said: "What's next? My film 'Margaret' will hopefully come out soon. Next is a play I did called 'Starry Messenger' that I just finished with the same person who wrote 'Margaret', Kenny Lonergan, wrote that play. It sounds like we're going to do it in London in the spring, so that's probably next for me."

While Matthew is looking forward to showing off his acting skills to a theatre audience, it is unlikely he will be displaying any musical talents.

The 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' star admits he struggled to get to grips with even miming playing an instrument when he portrayed a children's songwriter in 'Wonderful World'.

He told SheKnows.com: "I played the cello when I was a teenager, and I've been in a few musicals. I like music a lot, but I don't have much of a background and I couldn't even fake playing a guitar."

Matthew's wife has previously confessed to a desire to appear in a London stage show.

She said: "I've been asked in the past to star in the West End and been thrilled, because it's every actor's dream. But the timing has never been right for me family or work life.

"I hope someone will be foolish enough to ask me again because it's the excuse for us to come and live there."
