Cheryl Cole made first lover wait

Cheryl Cole is "really proud" she waited to lose her virginity.

The Girls Aloud beauty - who is married to soccer star Ashley Cole -first had sex when she was 15 but wouldn't give in to her then-lover's advances for three months.

She told Glamour magazine: "I've never had a one-night stand - the thought of being intimate with someone you don't know really freaks me out. I think men should earn that intimacy.

"I was 15 when I lost my virginity, but I made my boyfriend wait three months, so I am really proud of myself for that."

Cheryl, 26, has an old-fashioned view of relationships and is happy that she and Ashley tied the knot when she was just 23.

When asked if she regretted marrying so young, she replied: "Not really - all the women in my family did the same. Before I met Ashley, I had only had three long-term relationships.

"I have quite an old-fashioned mentality and like the fact that by the time I am 33, Ashley and I will have been married for 10 years."
