Mariah Carey's drunken acceptance speech not so Precious (Video)

Mariah Carey was honored for her "breakthrough" acting performance in the Lee Daniels film, "Precious" at the Palm Springs Film Festival's Gala Dinner last night.

Her acceptance speech revealed the actress and singer was inebriated.

"Please forgive me because I'm a little bit... yeah (laughs) oh my goodness," she laughed leaning on Lee while accepting the honor and going on and on about "cotton" and "kitten" before eventually thanking the assembled luminaries for hanging in there listening to her "spiel."

Husband Nick Cannon was not in attendance.

Mariah Carey also battled demons back in the summer of 2001.  The clip posted below is from her July 2001 surprise appearance on TRL, where she wore a skimpy outfit, freaked out host Carson Daly and handed out popsicles, and just a few days later she checked into a mental facility.

Mariah Carey will soon turn 41, and was lauded for accepting a weighty role where she downplayed her looks and acted without makeup and her usual body controlling devices she normally employs to appear svelte.
