Sheen and Mueller top 2009 annoying couples list

For massive time wasting, ridiculous behavior and narcissistic media hogging offenses, battling couple Charlie Sheen and Palm Beach socialite Brooke Mueller have ended 2009 as the top couple we would like to see go away.

After blowing up Christmas with unflattering mug shots and a stint in an Aspen jail, actor Charlie Sheen and his wife have reconciled, sort of, as Sheen is reportedly asking a Colorado court to lift an order that has required him to stay away from his wife.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Sheen has given the courts a two-page motion, which also claims Brooke Mueller "also wishes for the protection order to be terminated."

All this makeup motion business is just days after it is allegedly revealed that a knife was brandished on Mueller.

The Sheen's argument began before dawn when Mueller told Sheen she wanted a divorce and custody of their twin sons, court records revealed. Mueller allegedly claimed Sheen reacted by pinning her down on a bed, holding a knife to her throat and threatening her life.

Sheen was arrested on suspicion of menacing and second-degree assault -- both felony offenses -- and a misdemeanor count of criminal mischief.

A court order barring further contact between the two also was issued.

TMZ.com claims Mueller's lawyer, Yale Galanter, claims that Mueller and Sheen "still love each other" and that their incident was chalked up to "one bad night."
