One of Hollywood's longest lasting couples have parted amicably, without divorce or much fanfare.
For over twenty years, actors Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins have collaborated professionally, and privately have been a rock-solid couple.
"Actress Susan Sarandon and her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins have announced that they separated over the summer," her rep Teal Cannaday told several tabloids today. "No further comments will be made."
It was the quirky 1988 baseball film "Bull Durham" that led to the two meeting. Sarandon played a spiritual and spirited Minor league baseball fan Annie who selected a lucky "recruit" each season to mentor. Her fateful pick was Ebby Calvin 'Nuke' LaLoosh, the rookie with a solid pitching arm, played by Tim Robbins. In the film, Crash Davis (Kevin Costner) wound up stealing Annie's heart, but in real life, Robbins and Sarandon fell in love.
Sarandon, 63, and Robbins, 51, have two sons: Jack Henry, 20, and Miles Guthrie, 17. Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri, 24, from a previous relationship with Italian director Franco Amurri. Eva inherited her mother's charms and made a big splash in Showtime's "Californication" as a siren student/stripper for Hank Moody (David Duchovny) this season.
