Alex Reid is worried Katie Price could rekindle her romance with ex-husband Peter Andre.

The cage-fighter admits he was concerned the pair would get close when Katie's seven-year-old son Harvey was hospitalised earlier this month and Peter rushed to be at his stepson's side.

Alex said: "I mean I'm a man so of course I get a little bit jealous and stuff, but that's natural. It crosses my mind but that's human instinct."

At the time it was reported that Katie had asked Peter to stay at their former marital home in Surrey while Harvey recuperated from his illness, which was at first believed to be swine flu.

When quizzed about what he would have done if the 'Mysterious Girl' singer had accepted his ex-wife's offer, Alex told Britain's New! magazine: "I wouldn't have liked it but what can you do? It would have been a bit awkward but I trust her fully."

Despite his concerns about Katie and Peter falling for each other again, Alex wants the pair to have an amicable relationship for the sake of their children - Harvey, four-year-old Junior and Princess Tiaamii, two.

He said: "I want their relationship to be nice, as I plan on being around for a long time. I don't see why we can't all sit down and have a chat. We'll never be best buddies but it would be good to clear the air."

Last month, Peter and Alex had a furious row over the telephone when the Australian pop star called to speak to his children.

Alex reportedly said to Peter: "I'm the man of the house now! I'll come round and sort you out."
