Actor Edward Norton will be accompanied by three Maasai warriors while running in the New York City Marathon, in a bid to raise money for the environment.

Diane Sawyer interviewed Norton this morning on Good Morning America, where Norton revealed that the Maasai were "used to running great distances, but pavement was going to be something new," and shared that the proceeds of his run sponsorship would benefit the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust.
Norton shared that Maasai Samson Parashina and two other men would be running with him for the New York City Marathon on Sunday. The Maasai people spend most of their lives running for many miles, even just to find water.
The Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust will strive to preserve the biodiversity within the tribal lands in Kenya and Tanzania through conservation, education and health services to indigenous people.
According to Norton, the trust began as an ecotourism lodge called Campi ya Kanzi, near the base of Kilimanjaro. The idea was to use profits from the camp to preserve the environment and to sustain the traditional culture of the Maasai people, who number about 7,000 in that region of Kenya.
