The Oscar-winning actor and director did his duty to attend meetings for recovering alcoholics and perform public service work as part of his conviction for driving under the influence.
"He does not appear to be on any sort of probation or facing any similar charges," said Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira. "The request is granted."
Gibson's 2006 arrest in Malibu was a tsunami of publicity making hay with the alleged comments of an inebriated Gibson, who referred to the female officer as "sugar tits" and allegedly made numerous anti-Semitic statements to the arresting officer.
The negative fallout was swift by prominent Jews in Hollywood, already incensed by Gibson's 2004 film "The Passion of the Christ" which some felt was also anti-Semitic.
According to CNN, if Gibson is arrested again for DUI, he faces enhanced charges for the crime.
