Redmond O'Neal continues his recovery out of jail

The O'Neal family, headed by actor Ryan O'Neal, has been plagued by public transgressions with alcohol and drug abuse, and a particularly horrible accident caused by son Griffin O'Neal that claimed the life of Francis Ford Coppola's son Gian-Carlo, back in 1986. Son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan, Redmond O'Neal, will be released from jail and continue his recovery in a Pasadena, California rehab for a minimum of one year, according to FOX news. © Lee Roth / RothStock / PR PhotosSon of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan, Redmond O'Neal, will be released from jail and continue his recovery in a Pasadena, California rehab for a minimum of one year, according to FOX news.Escaping a possible four-year sentence, O'Neal appeared in a courtroom in Santa Clarita, California and pleaded no contest to possession of a controlled substance.O'Neal will serve out three years probation, and if he violates probation, he goes to state prison for six years.Redmond was arrested on April 5, 2009 in possession of heroin during a routine security check in the parking lot of Pitchess Detention South Facility in Santa Clarita.Redmond was granted a brief stay while in prison to say goodbye to his ailing cancer-stricken mother. He was also released from jail to attend her funeral.
