Kanye West has personally apologized for his outburst at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs)

The rapper has finally said sorry to 19-year-old pop singer Taylor Swift - who was awarded the prize for the Best Female Video on Sunday (13.08.09) - after he ran onto the stage during her acceptance speech, snatched her microphone and told the star-studded audience he thought Beyonce Knowles deserved to win.

Taylor revealed: "Kanye did call me, and he was very sincere in his apology, and I accepted that apology."

His gesture came after the 'Love Story' singer appeared on US chat show The View yesterday (15.09.09) and admitted she hadn't heard from Kanye.

She said: "He has not personally reached out or anything, but if he wanted to say hi... My overall thought process went something like, 'Wow, I can't believe I won. This is awesome. Don't trip and fall. I'm going to get to thank the fans, this is so cool. Oh, Kanye West is here! Cool haircut! What are you doing there?' And then, 'Ouch!' And then, 'I guess I'm not going to thank the fans.' "

The teenage starlet also admitted she was shocked by the support given to her by some of the industry's biggest names, including Katy Perry, Kelly Clarkson and Pink, who all criticized the rapper's behavior on Twitter.

She said: "I just never imagined that there were that many people out there looking out for me, so it was really wonderful to see that people were out there defending me so I didn't have to."

Meanwhile, Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles has revealed he is proud with how his daughter dealt with the incident.

When she won the Video of the Year prize for 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)', the 28-year-old singer invited Taylor on stage to finish the speech Kanye cut short.

Mathew - who is also Beyonce's manager - said: "It wasn't my decision to bring Taylor out. It was all Beyonce's idea.

"I can only say it was a proud night for me as a manager, but more importantly as a father.

"I've always said the thing that makes me most proud about Beyonce is not how many records she sold or how many awards she has; it's that she's a genuine good person."
